Meet Your Speaker | Angela from Saffron Avenue

Angela is one of the most talented designers that I have met her in Wisconsin. This girl and her vision for design are top notch! And her personal style is killer too! I am honored to have her at the workshop talking about marketing your brand. How your brand speaks to your client and how what you wear in your photos actually matter to your brand. And so much more! She is one of the attendees favorite part of this photography workshop.

Get to know her below!

What surprised you the most about owning your own business?

The creative ‘seasons’ that you tend to go through. I kind of assumed I would maintain my energy levels, excitement, etc but soon realized there are simply months that you just are ‘off’..and realizing that it’s normal.

What do you like LEAST about your career?

The never-ending financial inconsistencies and highs/lows of income. There are often times I get quite envious of all of my friends who receive a consistent paycheck every couple weeks!

The best advice for your clients?

In terms of their brand, style, and website, I definitely try to let them know they should trust the process and not rush anything. When designing a brand for a client, it’s crucial for them to take the time and really dive into who they are, what their style is, and really think long term about it. I often think some people just want to hurry and get it done, but in result lose out on those crucial steps.

What is your go-to music to work to?

I don’t often listen to music anymore while I work..because I already have enough noise going on in my brain (the quiet helps me focus a bit more)! But, if I do, and depending on the client/project I’ll listen to french traditional, 90s/2000s rap or hits, and of course Jana Kramer.

Best advice you’ve received?

Something I still struggle with, but my husband always tells me this…”Getting is done is better than having it perfect”

What advice would you give an aspiring woman interested in your career or any career?
Find what will truly make you stand out within the industry and start with that..and start small! I definitely think the best thing to do is start with someone you are really great at and confident in, then over time build it up. Be that if it’s adding additional services, launching a shop, creating different products, offering courses, etc.  It’s very hard to go all in right away without establishing yourself and brand first.
What are at least THREE things you cannot live without on a daily basis?

Easy, 1. My puppy, Curry (literally the cutest thing in the world)  2. Cinnamon hot tea before I drink my coffee  3. My iPad, I can create, work, read, play on it.

What does your day normally look like?

Is there such a thing? Currently, I get up around 6:30, have my tea, and then work on my social media posts or blog items/emails.  I then treat myself to my coffee (and a homemade protein ball), respond to emails work on client projects, and then workout early afternoon. I typically get super inspired and motivated after my workout around 4-5pm..which helps me get a bit more client work done, but also my inspires me to work on my own business items. Lately I’ve been working til 10pm..which I have to get better at!

What are you looking forward to most at the Rad Photographers Retreat?

Last year I was able to connect with so many of the ladies and help them find their brand style and overall color palette and vibe. It was so great being able to see them fall in love with their new mood board as I was creating it with them! I can’t wait to hopefully do that again this year 😉

Send me a photo of your favorite wedding, photo, or project and why?
I just finished my first local brand project! I’ve never had a client that lived just minutes from me, so it was such an amazing experience. More than anything, everything turned out so perfect for them and cannot wait until they open! It’s a new venue called The Loft at 132 and they completely started from scratch and gave me creative freedom (which was the best)! www.theloftat132.com (see attached).
